History
Founded during the 1998-1999 academic year, the BGPSA was originally known as H.U.G. (Help Us Graduate). The premise was to establish an organization committed to the successful matriculation and retention of black graduate and professional students at UT.
Today, the BGPSA provides academic, professional, and social support for black graduate and professional students and assists in the recruitment and retention of qualified black graduate and professional students at UT. The BGPSA is designed to provide them with a rich, empowering and well-rounded education that will
enhance your personal and professional growth through academic assistance, social support, network opportunities, and professional development.
